Mark de Cloe to shoot Telefilm SILK ROAD about Dutch online drug dealer
Director Mark de Cloe, known for MEN IN THE CITY and BOY MEETS GIRL STORIES, will be helming the Telefilm SILK ROAD this summer. The news was announced by Rinkel Film and broadcaster KRO-NCRV today.
SILK ROAD is a gripping psychological thriller set in the world of cyber crime, and inspired by stories of darknet traders. De Cloe: “SILK ROAD is a fascinating story with intriguing characters. We’re telling it from the point of view of Daphne, the clever girl living next door, who is exceptionally computer-savvy. When she eventually gets hip to what’s going on, she rolls with it, enjoying the endless possibilities. Though at the same realizing she has actually become part of a criminal world. How far will she go? Who can she trust? And who is using who?”
The screenplay was written by Marc & Roeland Linssen, known for FORCE, THE REAL ESTATE FRAUD EXPOSED and FREDDY HEINEKEN – A STRONG BREW. The film is produced by Reinier Selen (Rinkel Film) and broadcaster KRO-NCRV in a collaboration with the CoBO Fund.
Mark de Cloe previously directed the Telefilms THE STRONGEST MAN IN HOLLAND and RHURBARB for KRO-NRCV, which both garnered an Emmy nomination. De Cloe is also responsible for Dutch successes such as MEN IN THE CITY 1 & 2, LIFE IN ONE DAY and THE NEIGHBORS.
