When thirteen-year-old Sallie Mo reluctantly goes along on a summer vacation, she meets the rebellious Jackie and the loyal Dylan. With them, she fights against the logging of the forest where the memory of her little brother Beitel lives on. Because adults are blind to the importance of conservation, the children take action themselves. Through this resistance, their friendship grows, and Sallie Mo finds her own voice.
